Following on from the surroundings of the Georgian manor house at the hotel,there are many historical and architectural areas of interest at the gardens. For instance, there is the Pagoda, which was constructed in 1862 by William Chambers. This eight sided pavilion in traditional Chinese style is a wonderful location for a leisurely walk and from here you can enjoy the carefully designed vista, taking in tree lined avenues and Syon Park, in the distance.
The Victorian glass house – called Palm House – provides an elegant contrast to this as a modern feat of engineering. It was built in 1848, after a 4 year project where Richard Turner brought the designs of Decimus Burton to life. Although Palm House is now an attraction in it’s own right, the accompanying rose garden is a truly special treat in the summer.
