A green stay atop the hill...

Perched atop of the hill in London’s greenest borough, we are served a daily reminder about just how important it is to protect our planet.

We're dedicated to making the hotel as sustainable as possible, and have invested heavily to ensure we are on the right path. Our investment to date means we are already in a great place - being carbon neutral since 2022 and not sending any waste to landfill, (as well as lots of other great things you can read about below), but we are ambitious, and we want to do more. We have set ourselves a bold target - reaching Net Zero by 2040!

Whether you're staying with us for business or pleasure, you can rest assured that every aspect of your experience has been designed with sustainability in mind.

Our sustainability journey so far…

Since 2015, we've been on a mission to minimise our environmental impact and promote sustainable living. From energy and water conservation to waste management and beyond, here are some highlights of our sustainability journey so far.

Being Carbon Neutral

We have been awarded with a carbon neutral status at the hotel since 2022 with Carbon Neutral Britain.  We have opted to work with the Woodland Trust to help us achieve this, because planting trees to offset our carbon felt particularly apt as hotel a stone throw from one of the capital’s largest (and, in our opinion, most beautiful) parks!

Investing in energy performance

With an investment of nearly £9 million, we've undertaken critical projects to improve energy performance across our property. From upgrading insulation to installing energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning systems, every decision has been made with sustainability in mind.

Renewable energy

We are committed to buying Renewable Energy Certificates covering 100% of our electricity usage, so that we can minimise the impact of the energy which we do consume.

Zero waste to landfill

We have worked hard to ensure our waste is responsibly handled including crushing glass ourselves on site, and we are proud to say that none of it ends up in landfill!

Encouraging green travel

We message consistently about the various public transport options there are to arrive at the hotel. We also installed EV chargers in 2023 to support our guests who have electric cars.

Energy and water efficiency

We have invested in centralising the heating and air conditioning systems in our bedrooms that have significantly reduced energy consumption while ensuring our guests' comfort.

Sustainable procurement

We're committed to sourcing materials responsibly, with a focus on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood and other sustainable materials. By choosing suppliers who share our values, we're minimising our environmental impact throughout our supply chain.

Employee welfare and inclusivity

Our dedication to sustainability extends beyond environmental initiatives. We prioritise diversity and inclusivity in all areas of our business, and we are committed to offering equal opportunities for all. We also provide comprehensive health plans and mental health support to all our employees, because their well-being is our priority.

Looking towards the future

Net Zero emissions

By 2035, we aim to achieve Net Zero emissions for our own operations, with a further goal of achieving Net Zero emissions for our entire value chain by 2040. This means taking concrete actions to reduce our carbon footprint and responsibly offsetting any remaining emissions to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Engaging our community

We believe that sustainability is a collective effort, which is why we're actively engaging with our community to raise awareness and inspire action. From organising waste management initiatives to collaborating with local suppliers, we're working together to create a more sustainable world.

Measuring our progress

We understand the importance of accountability, which is why we're continuously monitoring our progress through key metrics and KPIs. By tracking our energy consumption, carbon emissions, and other sustainability indicators, we can ensure that we're on track to meet our goals and make a meaningful impact.
